Denham V London Theatres XI

Sunday 26th September

Maynard Magic

Denham won the toss and elected to bat on a rain-ffected wicket and it wasn’t long before James Nicholas was making his way back to the pavilion for 2.

In came Dave Maynard who scored an excellent 85 and hit the ball to all parts of the ground. He was well supported by Bobby Rai 31, Jack Grover 13, Faisal Mahmood 23 and Ritchie Brathwaite 14 not out, bringing the innings to a close on 200-6 off 40 overs.

Denham got off to a great start with Faisal Mahmood (2 wickets) and Gerald O’Hara (1 wicket) ripping out the heart of the Theatres' batting, then James Nicholas came on to bowl with his off spin taking 2-22 , Pete Schembri 3-12 and there was an impressive debut from young Richard Schembri, bowling 3 overs for 9 runs

Finally, the skipper of the day, Jack Grover, wrapped up the game with 2-19, bowling London Theatres out for 113.

That is over and out for me, the last match report, thank goodness (says Dave Maynard). I will be looking forward in seeing most of you at winter nets in January at Brunell University - dates to be advised on website.
