Denham V Chesham Bois XI

Sunday 19th September

A Score, A Score, My Kingdom For A Score

Denham won the toss on a blistery autumn day and put Chesham Bois into bat with James Nicholas and Gerald O Hara taking 2 quick wickets with the opposition reeling at 24 -2.

Then came most a bizarre 8 over spell of cricket where Denham managed to drop 2 catches (I am still waiting for your excuse tour master Payne) and failed to run out the same batsmen twice.

With this, and some good partnerships from the opposition, they managed to accumulate 166-7 off their 40 overs.

Denham's reply started off very badly with S.Payne(8), J.Nicholas(11), P.Schembri(3), D.Maynard(2) and A.Coulson(6) all dismissed cheaply, leaving Denham 36-6.

In came Jack Grover who scored an excellent 45 and was well supported by Richie Braithwaite (37) and Gerald O’Hara (17). With 30 needed off the last 4 overs Richie Braithwaite was caught at point and Denham were eventually bowled out for 146, losing by 20 runs, a score.
