Denham 1st XI V Littlewick Green Saturday 19th June Fighting Talk ...
Captain Dave Maynard's Report Denham lost the toss and were put into bat by Littlewick Green. Flash Tobin (44) and James Nicholas (67) put on 113 for the first wicket and things were looking promising for Denham. Then Littlewick Green hit back and took 3 quick wickets in Tobin, Nicholas and Mahmood leaving Denham reeling at 127-3 with a collapse imminent. In came Cap'n Dave Maynard and Joe O’Hara to steady the ship. These two manufactured a 96 run partnership in 13 overs before Maynard departed for 41, while O’Hara saw out the 52 overs with an excellent 66 not out, helping Denham make 250-7 off 52 overs. Denham started off brightly in restricting the visitors to 88-4, but were unable to whittle out the rest and Littlewick Green eventually finished up on 212-7 off 48 overs. James Nicholas (3-39) and Faisal Mahmood (2-47) were the pick of the Denham bowlers and were well supported by Shiakh and O’Hara. Denham looked in contention much of the way, with fine innings from Chris Ambler (95) and Cap'n Jeff Simpson (54), but faded to 201 all out. 30 points to Amersham Hill, 10 to us. |

V St Johns Wood Sunday 20th June Run Feast Denham lost the toss and were put into the field by St Johns Wood. We were soon chasing the ball to all parts of the field with the visitors amassing a massive 272-2 off 40 overs, including R.Leggett scoring an excellent 144 not out. Denham started the run chase and were soon in trouble at 30-2 when Andy Leach and Dave Maynard came to the wicket. Leach scored a rapid 31 which pushed Denham to 89-3, still needing 183 off 22 overs. Dave Maynard and Alan Coulson then made an amazing partnership - 125 off 12 overs - which nearly won the game for Denham. Unfortunately Alan Coulson was caught for 20 and Dave Maynard followed quickly afterwards, his contribution being an extraordinary 125 runs. Denham were eventually bowled out for 238 off 37 overs, losing by 34 runs. Mention should be made of the excellent contribution Daniel Leach made in the field, plus bowling and batting - some senior players should take note! St Johns Wood Innings Denham Innings |
