Denham won the toss and opted to bat on a wicket which was harder and bouncier than usual. Progress was slow due to the accuracy of the opening bowlers and at no time did Denham appear to be on top.

Useful contributions came from Joe O'Hara (35), Dave Tang (27), Faisal Mahmood (22) and James Nicholas (19), but a final total of 149 didn't seem enough. The mood was further darkened by Pete Schembri retiring hurt after being hit on the thumb.

Theatres set off rapidly towards their target and, despite losing four wickets, Reached the Denham score after only 22 overs. Hemen Mehta (2), Faisal (1) and Alex Marman (1) were the wicket takers. Exit Denham stage left.

Later Pete returned with bandaged thumb and arm in a sling to announce that he needed an operation on the broken digit. Good luck Pete, available next week?
