Braywood 2nd XI v Debham 2nd XI
May 10th 2008
No one worked out Williams
The Twos inserted Braywood and restrained them to 184/9 from their full 52 overs (Russell 56) - a promising start.
But none of the batsmen had turned up for work, and the Twos were skittled for just 116 - with G Williams taking 6/30.
Braywood 30 pts Denham 5 pts
Next game Away at Hawridge & Cholesbury
NO SUCCESS AT UXBRIDGE
There were considerable murmurings when skipper Bobby Rai lost the toss, condemning Denham to another afternoon fielding in the hot sun at Uxbridge.
Despite a couple of early wickets, Uxbridge began building a large potential total, reaching 106 for 2 after 20 overs and "drinks".
Denham hit back during the next phase however, keeping Uxbridge to a total of 196 for8, the wickets falling to Bobby (3), Morgan Rees (2), Clint O'Hara (1), James Nicholas (1), and Tom Bishop (1). Harish Bhatt also bowled well at the end with 8 overs costing 22 runs.
After a refreshing tea, an update on the football and the discovery of our missing umpire in the toilet, Denham started their reply ........badly. At 54 for 4, any remaining hope lay with Joe O'Hara. With good support Joe may have succeeded, but only one of the last six batsmen scored any runs.
eeper Alan Coulson stayed for 12 overs, scoring very few, but allowing Joe to put on 74 runs for the eighth wicket. Despite an heroic effort which included seven sixes, Joe was last out for 97 with Denham still 48 runs short.
Batting practice required!!
