Denham lost the toss and were surprisingly asked to bowl on a damp wicket.

With just the right kind of overcast conditions to suit them, Jamil Shiakh and Phil Dickson didn’t disappoint in bowling the old fashioned virtues of line and length to have Holyport in trouble at 76-5.

But after they finished their spell, Denham failed to finish them off and allowed Holyport to reached 232-7 (A Pyle 66 not out and P Davies 52) due to some dropped catches and poor bowling.

Denham began their reply in steady fashion with Bobby Rai and Usman Khan taking the score past 50 before Rai was out for 16, O’Hara quickly followed for 1 and it was left to Faisal Mahmood and Khan to take the score to 130 before Mahmood was stumped for 31, leaving Denham needing 100 of the last 18 overs.

Khan decided to accelerate and was eventually out for 62. Wickets quickly tumbled leaving Denham at 172-7 and it was left to stand in skipper Dave Maynard 13 not out to see out the draw with Phil Dickson, despite being dropped with 12 balls to go.
