Ist XI v Braywood: A Draw That Did Denham No Harm In a rain reduced game Denham were asked to bat against Braywood. In their 37 overs they made 170/6 thanks to Mahmood 54 not out and Nicholas 45. Denham then reduced the home side to 28/4 as Shepherd took 3 early wickets finishing with figures of 3/37. However the Braywood middle order batted bravely to stay in the game with Waheed making 57 not out before the innings closed on 149/5 and the game ending in a draw. Points Denham 10 Braywood 5 Despite only drawing, Denham's 10 points meant they gained ground on Holyport (who got thrashed) and Taplow (who just got the 5 points for an abandoned match) and now occupy sole second position. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd XI v Braywood: Abandoned Points Denham 5 Braywood 5. |
Sunday XI v Woodley 17th June Denham lose to Woodley Woodley won the toss and opted to bat on a damp, slow wicket. Denham were hopeful of some movement off the wicket but were in for a long toil as the visitors built a large total of 244 for3 from their 40 overs. Last year's bowling success Phil Dickson was not to repeat his seven wicket performance, having to settle for a tidy 8 overs 0 for 30. The wicket takers were Harish Bhatt, Joe O'Hara and Bobby Rai. Denham promised to provide a worthy response at times, but wickets fell at regular intervals just as some batsmen began to gain momentum. Useful scores were achieved by Richie Braithwaite (45), Joe (38) and Bobby (35), but Denham were dismissed finally for 179, still 65 runs adrift. |
