Denham v Cookham Dean 1sts and 2nds,
Sunday Side v Headstone St George
June 2nd/3rd 2007
|
Sunday XI 3rd June Savage Sabherwal Slays St Georges After a late withdrawal by Perivale Phoenicians, Denham gained a fixture with Headstone St. Georges and opted to bat first on a slow wicket. Denham began well with Akhil Sabherwal and Bobby Rai posting an opening stand of 94 before Bobby was out for 35. Akhil continued to dominate. fortunately for Denham, because batting support was lacking as the score moved to 191 for 9. Akhil was dismissed finally for a superb 148, having found a worthwhile partner in last man Harish Bhatt and the innings closed on 240. Richie's spicy chicken got the lips tingling at tea and Denham spun into the attack with Harish and Hemen Mehta. Headstone St. Georges batsmen had the same problems as many Denham batsmen and lost early wickets. Despite a mid innings revival, they were dismissed for 92, with several bowlers gaining some success (Hemen 3 for 12, Harish 1 for 3, Joe O'Hara 2 for 5, Richie 1 for 3, Simon Johnson 1 for 31 and Bobby 1 for 14). Champagne moment: Harish running a 2, widely believed to be the first time ever! |
