July 30th/31st 2005
Ist XI: Rain Damaged James Nicholas's Report Denham travelled to top of the table Winchmore Hill with a very strong line up. On
losing the toss Denham were put in on a good wicket and
after the early loss of Flash for 9, set about building a
steady partnership under the pair of Usman Khan and Russell Bowry. With the score on 124/1
after 28 overs and Usman reaching his 50, both sides were
forced to run for cover as rain hit Winchmore Hill.
Denham lost regular wickets but kept the scoring rate up thanks to a superb display of hitting from the in-form Joe 'Farly' O'Hara who took 20 from just one over! Denham eventually made 204/7 from 41 overs, but only managed 9 at Winchmore Hill in reply before the rain set in again and the match was abandoned. Both
teams took 5 point for an abandoned game plus their bonus
points so Denahm got 10 points and Winchmore Hill took 8.
This takes Denham back to the top of the league by just
one point with Winchmore Hill having a game in hand.
