Ist XI: Hurley Burly Dave Maynard's Report Denham won the toss on a warm sunny day and elected to field. Hurley started off in great fashion with the dangerous Ridgeway smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. He had reached a quick 59, with the score on 79 when Phil Dickson bowled him. Denham then fought back, taking some quick wickets and soon had Hurley 130-4 with Joe OHara, Faisal Mahmood among the wicket-takers. Yet, with some poor fielding and dropped catches we allowed Hurley to score 256-8 off their 52 overs (Brench 112), but Phil Dickson returned the excellent figures of 6-62 off 15 overs. Denham began the run chase with Tobin (4) and Khan (18) putting on 27 for the first wicket, then an almighty collapse happened with Nicholas 8 and Webber 0, leaving Denham 35-4. In came last week heroes Dix and Dave Maynard who managed to put on 42 for the next wicket before Dix was bowled for 12. In came Joe OHara who responded well to some banter from the opposition by smashing the ball to all parts of the ground and creating a partnership of 75 with Maynard who also played some excellent shots. It looked like Denham would snatch victory but first Maynard was out caught and bowled for an excellent 53 then OHara followed soon afterwards for a superb 71, and Denham were eventually bowled out for 213. Worse was to follow. By only collecting 9 points (against Hurley's 30), Denham were relegated to second place, due to Winchmore Hill collecting another 30-pointer in despatching Littlewick Green.
