DENHAM C.C. FUNDRAISER AT RICHINGS PARK GOLF CLUB
FRIDAY 18th APRIL
We chose a chilly, windy day which made for difficult playing conditions. Not too difficult, however, for young Luke Hazell, a Richings Park junior who joined us and scored 43 points off an 18 handicap. Well played that man, and hopefully he got the cut in handicap which was his main objective.
After an excellent meal the individual Stableford prizes were presented by our President John Richardson to three more ordinary mortals who achieved 35 points each, D. Melville, W. Nicholas and I.Smith in that order after countback.
The 1st team prizes were won by R. Adio, C. Ambler and B. Dawes & the 2nd team were A. Wright, I. Smith and K. Knowlson.
Nearest the pins were won by D. Melville and R. Spencer, longest drives by A.Wright and B. Dawes.
The chairman would like to thank Alan Wright for suggesting the venue, Robert Mullane, his staff and Richings Park G.C. members for their hospitality, Ken Knowlson and Chris Payne for getting us organised.
Thanks go also to various friends who supplied prizes and the following organisations (in alphabetical order) for their donations:
The Buckinghamshire Golf Club
Denham Golf Club
Greene King Brewery
Oakland Park Golf Club
Richings Park Golf Club
The Swan Inn, Denham Village
Thorney Park Golf Club
As a result of the generosity of the participants and the aforementioned, and apart from the enjoyment of the day, the outcome for Denham Cricket Club was an overall profit of £876.50, a significant contribution to our funds. We anticipate with relish a similar event next year!
In the meantime, if anyone would like a Gift Aid form they are readily available from myself or Ken Knowlson or can be downloaded from Inland Revenue’s CASC (Community Amateur Sports Clubs) website.
Bill Nicholas, Chairman Denham C.C. 22nd April 2005
