Cricketers Darts League: Still Cobwebs James Nicholas 's Report: 24/10/06 |

"Back to Winning Ways - Just" Eastcote v Denham Denham had an 8 leg to 7 win over Ickenham on Wednesday evening, but it should have been more. Once again an under-strength side was fielded which included an injured Ray Painter (head and back) and a welcome debutante in Bobby Rai. James and Joe got Denham off to a reasonable start winning their pairs 2-1. An unorthodox finish from an Ickenham player robbing them of all three legs. The other three Denham all pairs lost 2-1 which was disappointing considering the Denham side was still much stronger on paper. I won't mention that Ray and Andy lost to two ladies. Oh dear I just did! At 7-5 down going into the fours and eights, it was imperative that Denham took them all. Ken, Andy and James all put away the doubles needed to do so, giving the league champions an 8-7 win on the night. However as every leg counts towards league points, it wasn't the best of results. The team need to kick start their season quickly if they want to win the title for a third year running. |
