Cricketers Darts League:

A Ruislip Rumble

Alex Marman 's Report: 22/10/08

...More from "The Ringer"

Denham continued with their winning ways with a vital if at times uncomfortable win against Ruislip by 9 legs to 6 despite the absence of regular captain James "Skip" Nicholas and Joe "Gentle" O'Hara.

However before the contests started, all of the Denham players were fired up for the battle with some exceptional darts being thrown in practice with Pete "Killer" Schembri hitting a 180 with three of his darts proving a highlight.

Dan "Chicken" Sutton (the stand in captain) and Mike "Hoppy" Marman showed great determination and team work to win the opening match of the evening with a mix of solid scoring and dead-eye finishing (especially from the "Chicken" who came up with all 3 finishes).

And things continued to look up for Denham when Tom "Daddy" Reynolds and Ken "Grandad" Knowlson combined to win their match by 2 legs to 1 despite the genuine pressure placed upon them by their dogged opponents from Ruislip.

However, 2-1 losses in the next two contests led to some jitters appearing in the Denham side despite the best efforts of the players.

Luckily to the relief of everyone in the Denham camp, victory in the tie was assured with a win in the first of the fours contests with the "Chicken" leading by example as captain with a confident finish on double eleven.

And despite another disappointing loss in the second of the fours with Alex "Ringer" Marman making a mess of a finish because of poor mathematics, the eights made sure that there was a positive end to the evening with a confident double 15 finish from Keith "Biggun" Ackermann.

In the end the most important factor was that Denham continued with their winning ways and showed the ability to win tricky ties away from home too.

Fact:- Barry Wrigley of Ruislip hit the highest finish of the season so far with a finish of 115 during the tie that evening.
