Mixed Fortunes to Start the Season

Denham's 2006-7 darts season got underway with a loss to Bessborough (formally North Harrow).

An under strength side got off to a good start with James Nicholas and debutante Joe O' Hara winning their pairs 2-1. Dan Sutton and Pete Schemberi went down 2-1, Keith Akerman and Andy Hayward won 2-1, but the Knowlson pairing of Ken and Sheila were defeated 3-0.

This left it 7-5 to Bessborough. It was soon 9-5 after two poor fours performances. However Andy Hayward finished 74 in unconventional manner (16, double 4, bull) to take the eights and snatch an extra point for Denham. 9-6 to Bessborough being the final score.

There was better news in the the Denham Trophy against Cup-Winners Uxbridge, which Denham won 10-5.

It was a good all round performance with James, Joe, Dan, Keith and Ray all averaging over 20 per darts.

Dan was in especially good form and hit the first 180 of the season.
