Cricketers Darts League: The Boys Done Good Ken Knowlson's Report: 6/10/08 |
|
|
...But Watch Out for Ringers Denham kicked off the league darts season on 3rd October with a 13-2 victory over Uxbridge C.C. The shock was James 'Skip' Nicholas and Joe 'Gentle' O'Hara's defeat in the first pairs match. They put their demise down to a hangover for the former and 'ard day for the latter. Dan 'Chicken' Sutton partnered by Tom 'Daddy' Reynolds retrieved the situation in the second match with Tom averaging 24.92 and 3 finishes over the night. Ray 'The Limp' Painter and Mike 'Hoppy' Marman skipped their way through their opposition with the latter finishing up his night's work with three finishes. Keith 'Biggun' Ackermann and 'Chelsea' Bruce Brewer wound up the pairs proceedings with another 3-0 victory. Brucy stunned everyone with a double-one finish after spending 5 minutes missing the easy ones..... Pete 'Killer' Schembri was introduced for the Fours and Eights, replacing the shell-shocked Joe and proceeded to prove his worth. Ken 'Grandad' Knowlson replaced Bruce, but with his mind on the burning pizza in the kitchen, failed to perform. The young Alex Marman, a product of his father's 'Darts finishing school', stunned his mates by volunteering to play for Uxbridge as they were a man short. Now nicknamed 'Ringer' he will have to work hard producing future darts reports and buying beer for the lads before he is forgiven... |
