Ruislip Routed After a long Christmas and New Year break, the Cricketers Darts League resumed action on January 18th when Denham, lying in second place, visited old rivals Ruislip. It was a sparkling display, with Denham running out 12-3 victors after turning out their best performance of the season. Leading pair James Nicholas and Tom Reynolds led from the front and averaged 20.2 and 21.6 respectively setting up the night with a 2-1 win. Dan 'Chicken' Sutton and Russell 'Student' Bowry followed them with another convincing 2-1 win, both players averaging over 20 per darts. Ray Painter and Tony Matthews did even better, winning their match 3-0. Keith 'Cool' Ackerman partnered by Tricky maintained the momentum with a 2-1 victory, the former produced his most consistent darts of the season. The fine start enabled skipper Andy 'Slimboy' Hayward to give Ken Knowlson and Pete 'Killer' Schembri a run in the Fours and Eights. They didn't let them down. Both Fours matches and the Eights were won convincingly. The only disappointment on the night was when Tony -the winner of the raffle chocolates- failed to maintain the team's tradition of passing them around. He mumbled something about his wife liking the hard centres. Next match - Friday 27th, home to North Harrow. |
