Cricketers Darts League:

James Nicholas 's Report: 11/1/07

Denham v Bessborough

Victory at Last

The Cricketers Darts League moves into the 2nd half of the season and with it comes a new format. The final league table from the first half of the season is turned upside down, and teams begin with a head start over winners Bessborough, according to the number of legs behind them they finished.

Denham, finishing 2nd by 4 legs therefore took a 4 point cushion to Bessborough last night.

James and Tom renewed their partnership in the first game of the evening in which both were well below their best. However they managed somehow to scrap a 2-1 victory.

Joe and Dan were up next, hoping to reproduce the form that took them to the semi-finals of the League pairs competition the previous week. It was not to be and they went down 2-1.

Ray and Russell, paired together for the first time were poor but miraculously Ray was able to put away all his doubles for a fine 3-0 victory.

The star of the show however was undoubtedly Mr Knowlson, who paired with 'Killer' Pete Schembri threw some absolutely 'Kensational' darts to take them to a 2-1 win in a very hard fought final pair.

This left Denham leading 8-4 going into the fours and eights. Both fours were lost as Bessborough fought back hard, but it was still to end Denham's night.

James began the eights in style with a classy 180 and this seemed to re-ignite the Denham fire. The team pulled well ahead, however then missed a number of doubles for the win. But finally it was Dan 'The Chicken' Sutton who clucked the loudest and took out double four to give Denham a 9-6 triumph.
