Cricketers Darts League:

Presentation Evening

Ken Knowlson's Report: 29/4/07

"Out for the Count"

The Cricketers Darts League season drew to a close with the presentation ceremony held at Uxbridge C.C. last Friday night.

The 2000 Embassy World Champion, Ted 'The Count' Hankey was in attendance to present the awards and play those who dared to expose themselves.

Denham players received League runners-up medals and the Knock-Out Trophy for the second time in three years. Played under a new format, the lads acquitted themselves very well over the two parts of the league season and were the best overall team.

Skipper James 'Cool' Nicholas led the way for the individual awards, receiving trophies for 'Most Finishes', 'Most Tons' and the accolade of the being the League's 'Best Overall Player'.

Ray Painter won the award for the league's highest finish thanks to his superb 153 a few weeks earlier. Three of Denham's squad volunteered to play 'The Count' in single legs: James, Dan 'Chicken' Sutton and Ray 'Magnolia' Painter. James impressed but lost. Dan and Ray had however fuelled up on lager and were able to beat the champion in their games.

Near the end of the evening Ted Hankey selected Andy from Bessborough and James to each play him in a best of five match. Andy lost but James lived up to his reputation, stayed cool and won 3-2.

Thanks to all the lads and lassie who played this year.
