Cricketers Darts League: Champions Again Ken Knowlson's Report: 18/4/06 |

Denham Scrape Past North Harrow Denham lost their final League match of the season 7-8 against main rivals Hayes, but this did not prevent them from becoming champions for the second time in two years. Wednesday April 12th saw a a chirpy bunch of Denham players confirm their place at the top of the Cricketers Darts League. Hayes needed at least 12 legs to squeeze past the Denham boys but were unable to do achieve it. James Nicholas, partnering Tom 'Gisusalager' Reynolds, played his best darts of the season in the opening pairs, averaging 28.30 but this was not enough to stop a 2-1 defeat by a brilliant Hayes pair. Keith and Ken were the only other Denham pair to lose on a night where everyone contributed, even the oven which burnt the Pizza. The Season reaches its climax on Thursday 20th with the Cup Final against Uxbridge at the Hayes venue, when the lads hope again, to repeat last years feat. The Denham squad is without any stars and its consistent team spirit has carried it through on many occasions this year. Russell Bowry currently tops the highest number of leagues doubles. Keith Ackerman has scored more 100+ than any other player in the league, whilst James Nicholas is rated the best all-round player. Additionally most of the team know the difference between a 'Third man' and a 'Fine Leg.' |
