DENHAM LOSE THEIR WAY AGAINST WAYFARERS
Alan Coulson's Report
Dodging the showers, Denham elected to bat first against Harrow Wayfarers on a difficult wicket. Tom Bishop dug himself in for a long innings, but other batsmen failed to follow. Despite a few lusty blows, most seemed eager to give catching practice to Wayfarers and wickets tumbled regularly. Denham achieved a mediocre 105 with Tom scoring 30.
It was a good job Russell Bowry didn't attend to stir up the dejected players with his caustic wit. Luckily Carly did attend to rescue Denham from further embarassment with an emergency tea at short notice.
With heavy showers a constant threat, Harrow Wayfarers set off quickly towards their target and reached 92 for 2 before the terminal downpour. Only Harish Bhatt achieved success with 2 for 23, as the wicket seemed to play more easily.
Although technically a draw, Denham conceded the game, having been outplayed.
