Dave Maynard's Report

A keyed-up Denham 1st XI travelled to Great Kingshill on Saturday. Stand-in skipper Dave Maynard won the toss and elected to field on a slightly damp wicket.

Opening bowlers Phil Dickson and Jack Grover were soon making it difficult for the openers and they were both removed for 4 and 11.

Denham kept the pressure with tight bowling and crisp fielding. At the drinks break Great Kingshill had been restricted to 86-2 off 26 overs.

Enventually Great Kingshill set a total off 220-5 off 52 overs with some great bowling from Phil Dickson, Jamil Shiakh,Usman Khan, Jack Grover and especially Joe O’Hara at the end.

This was back up by some excellent fielding from Russell Bowry, Colin Tobin, Joe O’Hara - who also took a great catch - and Stuart Payne who kept wicket well in taking 2 good catches.

Denham began the run chase with Flash Tobin and Usman Khan putting on 50 for the first wicket before Tobin was out for 17.

Khan carried on dominating the Kingshill bowlers before being caught at slip for 41.The score now 71-2 and Russell 'The Commentator' Bowry was now at the crease with Lee Webber.

These two finished the game off in style with Bowry scoring an excellent 108 not out (20 4’s) which included some great pull shots and cover drives. He was well supported by Lee Webber, 40 not out.

Today was a great team performance in fielding and in batting and we need to produce the same level of performance for the next three weeks.

Summary

Denham won the toss, elected to bat and hammered up 277-7 off 51 overs.

Ambrose Treacy, 108 not out, and Bobby Rai, 96, were both in excellent form.

Coleshill were enventually bowled out for 165, with A.Saberwhal (4/45) Dewnham's star with the ball.
