DENHAM C.C. FUNDRAISER AT OAKLAND PARK GOLF CLUB

PERFECT WEATHER, A BEAUTIFUL COURSE, EXCELLENT CATERING AND A GREAT TURN-OUT...

...all contributed to our most enjoyable (and profitable) golf fundraiser of recent years. I am hugely grateful to all management and staff at Oakland Park whose immaculate handling of the event took a great weight off my shoulders on the day. Thanks also to Chris Ambler and the ladies for organising the raffle.

The Ladies Team clearly found the course to their liking, Sarah Roake winning the Cup with 41 points off 23 h'cap, and the team sweeping the board with a massive 101 points. Congratulations to all of them!

The Individual Stableford runner-up was an Oakland Park member, Bob Hawes with 40 points, an appropriate place to thank all the OPGC members and their guests who helped to swell our number.

The competition for runners-up in the Team Competition was as close as could be, with three teams scoring 90 points, Ian Smith's team winning on countback from Frank Grant and John Bodimeade's men. The rest of the field were not far behind, all teams scoring well in ideal conditions.

I should like to thank as usual all those who obtained or donated prizes for the golf, the raffle and auction, and especially those who were brave and generous enough to be involved in the bidding.

As a result of the generosity of the participants and the aforementioned, and apart from the enjoyment of the day, the total funds raised were just over £1400. This will allow us to pay the final instalment on our new sightscreens, and provide some Youth Group equipment. As ever, good luck to our cricketers and the young people of Denham!
